Each lesson plan below outlines activities and projects to help your students practice reading fundamentals using materials you already have in your classroom! These lesson plans are designed to help your students practice letter identification and the alphabet, rhyming with common word families, letter sounds and spelling, vocabulary and reading comprehension.

Lesson 101: The Three Little Pigs Episode (PDF, 3.08 MB)
Help students learn to identify the letters "W-O-L-F" by playing "Letter Find" and "Letter Memory." They can also practice building words with the "ALL" word family by creating an "ALL" word family Art Gallery and writing a story by filling in the "ALL" words. Students can also practice opposites by playing "Opposite Fish" and "Super Why Says - Opposites"!

Lesson 102: Hansel and Gretel Episode (PDF, 2.76 MB)
Teach students to identify the letters "F," "R" and "T" as they follow an Alphabet Maze through the classroom and create their own crumb letters. Discuss different modes of water transportation and build the letters "R-A-F-T" with your students. Also, play "SUPER WHY Charades" with your class to teach the power that one word has on meaning as they fill in the sentence, "The witch ______ the door."

Lesson 103: Humpty Dumpty Episode - (PDF, 1.75 MB)
Have a letter picnic and create a "Very Yummy" Letter Board with your class to practice identifying the letters "A," "L" and "R." Practice writing "LADDER" as your students can make their own "Letter Ladders." In "Choose Your Own Super Why Sentence," your students will learn how words affect meaning by filling in the blank in the sentence, "Humpty Dumpty had a great ______."

Lesson 104: Jack and the Beanstalk Episode - (PDF, 1.74 MB)
Practice the alphabet sequence by playing the "Duck, Duck Letters" game in your classroom. Then, take your students on an "OPEN Sign Hunt" around the neighborhood and have them create their own "OPEN/CLOSED" signs for their rooms at home. Let your students create their own bedtime song as they fill in their own words to, "Twinkle Twinkle Little _______."

Lesson 105: The Tortoise and the Hare Episode - (PDF, 1.91 MB)
Teach your students the letters in "GO" and "STOP" by having them create their own "Stop Light." They can practice identifying the letters in their own names as they play "Red Light, Green Light, ABC." Have your students practice writing and spelling the word "BELL" as they make their own "Letter Bells" and play "Letter Scramble." Also, have your students create their own version of Super Why's sentence, "The hare ____ by the tortoise."
