The SUPER WHY Web site is the online companion to the reading-powered, animated TV series airing on PBS Kids. The site targets ages 3 to 6, though many of the activities and resources can be used with younger and older children. Like the show, the mission of this site is to help kids learn key reading skills, including alphabet, word families, spelling and reading comprehension, through interactive online games, activities and more!

While the site is encourages independent play, you too can experience the online reading adventure of SUPER WHY with your child to be involved in his learning. The site also offers tons of helpful information and reading resources for parents and teachers.

Here are a few useful tips to help you take full advantage of the SUPER WHY Web site:

  • Be sure to check out the Guide to Activities section to find descriptions and educational goals for each of the online games offered on the SUPER WHY site.
  • To learn more about the SUPER WHY series and its educational goals, take a look at the About the Program and Educational Philosophy sections. The Character Descriptions section is also a great way to learn about each character and their literacy powers and tools.
  • For a quick overview of an episode, check out the SUPER WHY Slide Show. Program Viewing Tips is another resource that provides questions to ask your child after watching episodes of SUPER WHY.
  • Sit down with your child while she plays the Super Readers Challenge to see how she is doing with each literacy skill - including practice with the alphabet, rhyming words, spelling and reading. See how many stars your child has earned for each challenge. If you see your child has earned five stars in one area, but a fewer number of stars in another, encourage her to keep practicing.
  • For fun and creative ways to practice reading skills at home, visit the Activities and Literacy Tips sections. For printable interactive worksheet, check out the Worksheets section too!
  • Looking for books to read with your child? Visit the Recommended Reading section. Here you will find age-appropriate books that are hand picked by the Super Readers and actual kids!
  • For the latest news on the SUPER WHY television show, the website, local SUPER WHY community events and activities, product and retail news and more, you can sign up for the Join the Club! newsletter.
  • To hear more music from SUPER WHY or to watch episode clips with your child, go to the Super Stuff on the Kids' Navigation Bar. You'll also find SUPER WHY printables, wallpapers and more for you and your child!
