Alphabet Puzzle

Introduction

Help your child make and put together an Alphabet Puzzle like Princess Pea.

Materials:

Directions:

  • Have an adult only, follow the dotted lines and cut out the 26 letters from the puzzle.
  • Have your child put the puzzle back together by putting in order from A-Z.
  • For a greater challenge, have your child write his own alphabet by using the blank puzzle worksheet #2.

Take it further:

Spell Princess Words using the puzzle pieces have your child spell the following words from the Princess and the Pea episode:
  • DRINK
  • PEA
  • SINK
  • SMART
  • WATER

Make your own puzzle:
  • First have your child draw a picture of something. Then, have your child label that object. Ask your child if she knows how to spell the word. If not, make the sound of each letter and have your child guess what letter comes next. Finally, have an adult cut the picture out into puzzle pieces. Have your child put the puzzle back together. Example: Your child draws a car and writes the word car on it. Ask him what letters makes the C, A and R sound.

Talk about it:
  • Princess Pea showed how smart she was by solving puzzles. Talk to your child about the ways that he is smart. What does your child think it means to be smart?
