Afterschool Activities: Mission: Survival!
In "Mission: Survival!" kids explore how plants and animals survive in their environments, from deserts to your own neighborhood. These activities include a PLUM LANDING animation and a related hands-on activity with several extension ideas, providing approximately one hour of programming.
Start out by having kids watch Digging for Clues, a short animated video about life in the desert. Then, do the related hands-on activity Roots and Shoots. If time permits, wrap up your day by completing one or more of the "Explore Some More" activities listed with both.
