Educator-Led Family Activities: Wind Chasers

In “Wind Chasers!” families explore how wind flows around city structures and how it can push and carry objects like leaves and trash. These activities include a PLUM LANDING animation and a related hands-on activity, both with extension ideas, providing about one hour of programming.

Start by having families watch The Manta Ray Mystery, a short video set in a city full of windblown objects, including (perhaps) a giant flying fish! (Gather around a laptop or tablet, or arrange to view the video on a larger screen.) Then, head outdoors to explore the speed, direction, and effects of today’s wind in the hands-on activity Wild Wind. If time permits, wrap up your day by completing one or more of the “Explore Some More” activities.
