Educator-Led Family Activities: Soak, Flood, or Flow?

In “Soak, Flood, or Flow?” families explore how water moves over city surfaces. These activities include a PLUM LANDING animation and a related hands-on activity, both with extension ideas, providing about one hour of programming.

Start by having families watch The Hidden Alligator Mystery, a short video about a thrilling boat ride through a city’s underground drainage tunnels. (Gather around a laptop or tablet, or arrange to view the video on a larger screen.) Then, head outdoors to explore water flow in your neighborhood with the hands-on activity Water Ins and Outs. If time permits, wrap up your day by completing one or more of the “Explore Some More” activities.
