Afterschool Activities: Mission: Mountains!
In "Mission: Mountains!," kids explore how the plants and animals in an ecosystem depend on one another. These activities include a PLUM LANDING animation and a related hands-on activity with several extension ideas, providing approximately one hour of programming.
Start out by having kids watch Moose Mania, a short animated video about mountain ecosystems. Then complete the related hands-on activity, Pin the Moose on the Mountain. If time permits, dive deeper into food webs with the game Mountain Scramble, which challenges kids to build and maintain their own mountain ecosystem. If you prefer to head outdoors, complete one or more of the "Explore Some More" activity ideas listed at the end of Pin the Moose on the Mountain to wrap up your day.
