Educator-Led Family Activities: Linked Lives

In “Linked Lives,” families explore how animals and plants such as bees and flowers depend on one another to survive. These activities include a PLUM LANDING animation and a related hands-on activity, both with extension ideas, providing about one hour of programming.

Start by having families watch The Brick-Eating Ivy Mystery, a short video about an ivy patch that’s home to a range of city animals. (Gather around a laptop or tablet, or arrange to view the video on a larger screen.) Then, head outdoors to play Waggle Dance, a hands-on activity about how bees find nectar and pollen and communicate to other bees where these tasty treats are. If time permits, wrap up your day by completing one or more of the “Explore Some More” activities.
