Afterschool Activities: The Great Rain Drain
In “The Great Rain Drain,” kids explore how excess water flows out of a city or town through storm-drain systems. These activities include a PLUM LANDING animation and a related hands-on activity, both with extension ideas, to provide about one hour of programming.
Start by having kids watch The Hidden Alligator Mystery, a short
animated video about a thrilling boat ride through a city’s underground
drainage tunnels. Then, head outdoors to track water flow in your
neighborhood with the hands-on activity H2O on the Go. If time
permits, wrap up your day by completing one or more of the “Explore Some
More” activities.
