Plum's Photo Hunt

Plum's Photo Hunt

What Is the Plum's Photo Hunt App?

This app sends kids on missions to look for and photograph fun things in nature–clouds, shadows, bugs, and anything awesome they find right out their front doors. Each photographic mission includes a prompt to help get kids thinking about their pictures.

Conversation Starters

Ask:
  • Which was your favorite mission? Why?
  • What missions would you add to this app if you wanted to tell Plum all about where YOU live?
  • What did you discover about your neighborhood after completing some of these missions?
  • If you could go on a photography mission anywhere in the world, where would you go? Why?

Neighborhood Photo Album

Print your photos and create a book showing the biodiversity in your neighborhood. You might tape or paste the photos into your field journal, or designate a special book for this project. Provide information with each photo, such as which mission you were completing, where you took the photo, and why you took it. Keep exploring by photographing some of the same things you included in this book at different times of the day, or even different times of the year! Print these photos and make a time series, showing what a neighborhood tree, shrub, or other feature–even the sky above your house–looks like at different times of the day or year. Tape your pictures to a wall or on a piece of poster paper so you can see how your neighborhood changes over time.
